Now Accepting Applications from Rising Craft Artists! *** Patchwork Tote by Jennifer Cooke of Raeburn Ink AltCraft: Baltimore The American Craft Council is now accepting AltCraft applications for our flagship show in Baltimore and, new this year, our show in Atlanta. This bustling section celebrates the innovative techniques and materials of the burgeoning handmade movement. This is an opportunity for talented artists and indie designers to gain national exposure at a well-established show. We will be accepting 15 artists for Baltimore and 10 for Atlanta. As part of the Council’s commitment to indie crafters, the cost of participation includes pre-setup of a skirted table, seating, electricity, lighting and trusses. Plus, there’s no application fee! *** Ceramics by May Luk AltCraft, San Francisco More than 700 artists present their work at the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore, attracting a crowd of 25,000 enthusiasts to the largest juried, indoor craft show in the nation. The cost of a table in the marketstyle space on the showfloor is $600. This year, retail will run 4 days, from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 25 - 28. The American Craft Council Show in Atlanta will be celebrating its 21st year in the South, and is noted for its sophisticated sneak-preview party, which last year benefited the Boys & Girls Club of America. The cost of a table in the marketstyle space on the showfloor is $400. Atlanta show dates are Friday to Sunday, Mar. 12- 14, plus an evening event on Thursday, Mar. 11. Applicants are eligible only if they have NOT shown in an American Craft Council show previously. Embellished commerically-bought items (such as t-shirts and notecards) are not eligible. The deadline is Thursday, October 15. The making of these primates will be a big ginormous barrel of monkeys! This project will be knit in the round, so please be comfortable knitting on double points. craft fair in garrison this weekend

this weekend, august 15 & 16, i will be selling my goods at the Garrison Art Center's Fine Arts and Crafts Fair. i have never been to Garrison before, but i hear it's a lovely setting, right on the hudson river and just steps from the metro north train station. so if you live in the area, come out and say hello! and you city peeps, how about a day-trip up to the country? there are two music stages, tamales and keegan ales, and 95 juried artisans, both traditional and new-fangled. i'll have my own solo booth for the first time ever, and i'm bringing both summer and fall pieces since it's that time of year.

the visionary folks at the GAC reached out to a bunch of us etsians to freshen up the vendor list, so i think it's going to be a really fun mix! mr. smith will be there selling prints of his photos, and my buddy jill will have her scrumptious handspun yarn. looking at the list just now i discovered that my friend julie a.k.a. your secret admiral will be there! also the talented screen-printer alison tauber. some other sellers i'm excited to meet are: cerulean blue ceramics, astulabee, reine, and knit knit.

cal patch will be in town briefly and i’m very happy that she has time to teach this class! if you know how to use a sewing machine, but following a pattern on your own is intimidating— then this class is perfect. or if you just enjoy the structure of a class and sewing with others! we will be using the simplicity 3692 built by wendy pattern. students must arrive at class with pieces already cut out and marked, as this can take up to 2 hours and it will be otherwise impossible to finish the project in the allotted time. you will need to bring your own sewing machine to class. if you can’t, you can email me and I will try to arrange to borrow one for you.
